Communal hatred videos now common on TikTok

A video making app with some of inbuilt lyrics and voices and which also gives you the chance to make an unique content of yourself was launched on August 2014 named Musically.In June 2016, musical.ly had over 90 million registered users, up from 10 million a year earlier. By the end of May 2017, the app reached over 200 million users. ByteDance Ltd. acquired musical.ly Inc. on November 9, 2017, and merged it into TikTok on August 2, 2018.

Since then Tik Tok has made a huge impact on the market and having over more than 800 million active users all around the globe and has around 119 million active users in India.

• TikTok ranked as the top most downloaded app in Apple’s iOS App Store for Q1 2019, with more.

Now with the increasing global Corona crisis, this platform has given birth to hatred, fake news and many have ended up in jail for posting vulnerable videos in this platform. Some had shown violation of rules by going out of house to enjoy during the lock down period and posted that video on TikTok which is spreading a sense of carelessness among their followers, whereas other had started spreading religious and communal hatred among people by their respective views by their religious angle behind the impact of Covid-19 while hurting other religious sentiments.

More teenagers are on TikTok now than they use Facebook. TikTok have owners from Beijing and they have terms and conditions over sharing user data to the Chinese government which is considered as a major security issue. TikTok has admitted they share user data with Chinese Govt. which includes images, surfing and browsing history, other apps on phone, key words and many other personal details without the users consent and permission.
